Quote from Forbin :And this absolves the game and developers of all criticism? Are we to simply take the developers' claims of historical accuracy at face value? What makes you think the reviewer didn't play the game?

I think that this quote from the article sum's up the current gaming press witchhunt on this game, and in particular its creator.

"Kingdom Come: Deliverance isn’t propaganda, but there’s still a semi-coherent ideological framework at its core. KCD looks at medieval society through a lens of patriarchy, and the various -isms it’s associated with: sexism, classism, and chauvinism."

Yes, elements of the gaming press have a hatred of Daniel Varva.
Try reading this, https://heavy.com/games/2018/02/art-vs-artist-kingdom-come-controversy-explored/

And I actually suspect that frequently 15th century life operated as a "patriarchy, and the various -isms it’s associated with: sexism, classism, and chauvinism." I don't believe the SJW movement started till the late 20th century, quite some time later.
So, good luck with criticising the past for not being the present.

However, IT IS A GAME !!!!!

Bluntly, I don't care what any dev's personal views are on most things, my interest is 'How good is the game ?' and do I want to buy it.

If you have a personal issue with the dev then don't buy the game. That's pretty simple really.

The game has more than enough gameplay issues that most of the rational conversation is focused on patching and the Warhorse team are doing a great job of communicating and patching these issues. The latest patch, 1.3.3 has improved issues such as saves and a host of other problems that improve gameplay.

Perhaps if RPS had actually tried playing the game rather than being on their (the writer) own religious crusade they may not have made such a stupid factually incorrect comment.

Bohemia is in the middle of a civil war of sorts, invaded by Hungarians and rebelling Bohemians.

The bandits are certainly not content with respecting anyone.

It is also set during the early teachings of Jan Hus, certainly not a conformist. In fact one mini quest actually has the player give the sermon in a church where you can make a very strong statement in support of his teachings which are completely opposed to conformity. And the congregation agree with these views....

It is also worth remembering that society in 1400 is not society in 2018, there are in fact differences !

Also, its a game and that is the key point. It gets some things wrong, but it's still breaking new ground as an RPG and well worth playing.

Yup, read that review and my above post answers that.
From my point of view the game has a number of historical issues regarding historical accuracy, first of all the armour is wrong in a number of ways. They seem to have relied on re-enactors for the details here and it is not correct.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzx51eQNzUA

Secondly, in Bohemia at this time period (1403) the exclusion of crossbows is inexcusable, they were the primary missile weapon and I have no idea why they were not included.

Thirdly, the clothing is not accurate either, either male or female.

And fourthly, the sole point that RPS makes here, ( a site I usually agree with, but not at all with this article), NO PEOPLE OF COLOUR......

Well, the game is set in a 16 square km part of inner Bohemia in 1403, it includes Bohemian's, Cumins, Hungarians, Jews, all people who would be in this area.
This bitchfest over this game goes back a long way (2014 Kotaku) and it is IN MY OPINION a bunch of SJW's wanting to cleanse anyone who disagrees with their agenda.

But I personally consider that the SJW, Antifa, liberal left claiming that anyone opposed their form of Communism to be 'Fascist' to be a ......... ( I disagree)

And, on taking a pure gaming point of view, irrelevant to the actual game. If you really want a 'Person of colour' in the game then I suggest that South Parks solution is perfect, Their 'person of colour' is called 'Token Black' and no one seems to have an issue with that. Smile

Over 1 Million sales from late feb, Patch 1.3 is just released.

And for all the SJW's who are having a meltdown with not having a doggy companion or (Shock horror) a realistic playable female character, (In 1403 Bohemia....) these are being worked on and will be free DLC (for early backers).

This is probably the best RPG game ever released so I really suggest checking it out on Youtube if your a fan of Skyrim, The Witcher, Your favourite RPG here. Smile

The joy of a ban is discovering other simulation games. And as someone who has a love of history, a love of REAL simulation games, enjoys Skyrim......

I really suggest that if you enjoy RPG games, check out this masterpiece.

It's focus is on realism, it's 1403 in Bohemia and you are the son of a blacksmith. As such, you know SFA about being a legendary fighter. You will need to train and learn how to do anything and everything.

Check out some utube playthrough's because if a real RPG set in historically accurate 1403 Bohemia seems interesting then this game is well worth having a look at.

A: Who are you calling an Aussi, Australasia is a geographic area. Big grin

B: Just release the F***ing update that's been promised, LFS is a great sim and 8 years ago it was bleeding edge... 8 years ago....

C: Other people are releasing great sims, there are a large number of CURRENT sims that allow modding, have physics that are NOW as good as LFS was 8 years ago.

Seriously, I love(d) this sim, I believe that Scrawen & Eric have the ability to release an update that is capable of restoring LFS to it's previous position of 'THE' racing sim. There is no point in blaming the community that still supports LFS for the current slow lingering death that we here are seeing.

The next stage here will be people removing the great servers that we currently have because servers cost money, and if no one is using them, why spend the money ?

I expect this to be a deleted post as it's cutting to the bone of what I believe is the current issue here, and most people hate to hear that.

Which is the issue in Australasia as I have repeatedly said.....

Whilst we have MANY servers, good servers, hosting (and wanting to host) LFS for local players there is no longer the player base.

I've been saying this for a while, but the issue is now at a stage where most experienced sim racers here are using other sims.

The local player base is now, as you in fact suggested I should do, is taking a break from LFS.

Blah, Blah, Blah.... Said it all before..... This issue is that until there is a reason for players to return to LFS, this situation will continue. It simply appears here first as we had a smaller player base to start with.

Fine, I fully understand your opinion that it's our fault for having too many servers and not organising local leagues.

Problem is the local leagues mainly died in 2013, 5 years after the announcement of the soon to be released tyre physics update.

I took your (Scrawens) advice a while ago regarding taking a break and playing other sims while awaiting conformation by email of the LFS update, so for me this isn't an issue, I simply remain mildly (not enough to buy S3) optimistic that this update will eventually be released.

In the mean time, the situation in Australasia will simply continue as it is, or get worse.

But, as per your post, that's only our fault.........

There are already many NZ/Aus servers, but only the cruise servers have a population, and many of them are bots.
The above was taken at 3.30 pm on a Sunday.

And yes, like many people I have taken a break and race other sims, and I do apologise for getting my facts wrong about the 10 year timetable.
Just to correct the facts..

FFS, Your insanely lucky to get a ping less than 500 in Australasia to ANY Euro/American/ANY server.

It's not our local domestic issue, it's the fact of distance, we are many, many km away from the servers. Often Telco's here use satellites because these work for phone communications and there are not the cable circuits owing to the changes in IT over the last few years.

To game online here, you need local servers, but, without the local player base, the game dies.As has LFS.

Any online game here requires a viable player number, and as LFS has resisted updating itself for 10 years, the gamer base has moved on to games that do update.

Still, I'm sure that the Dev's do care about those of us that did /do buy this game and are working full time on releasing the update.... Nod

Yes,
Quote from lucaf :Check out Digital Rainbow servers in LFS, they are in Australia and very nice people racing there (not many but..)

Online gaming relies on X number of people wanting to play a game, sim racing in this case, so when you go online there are Y number of people who are wanting to play the game (LFS in this case) at a specific time.

It's great to see that Scrawen has spent the last 2 weeks on sorting out a multiplayer lan setup, shame the rest of the player base is STILL waiting for the long (10 Years and counting) update to tyre physics, apparently due to a (now out of date and updated by the car maker VW) play issue due to front wheel drive.

We have had a VR update, shame VR is about as dead as LFS in the gaming world, the current buzz is 'Augmented reality', I can hardly wait for that update.

LFS boasts that you can use a 'potato' as your processor and LFS will still work, shame the requirements for VR are far higher.

FFS, just release the f##@ing update so the large number of players who actually want to play this f***ing game in this part of the world, with a VIABLE user base can play this "THE online racing simulator" that the developers STILL claim that it is, with a growing player base that will in fact earn the Dev's the money to pay for future updates.

Yes, a pointless post as updates will happen "sometime" and Scrawen is clearly far more focused on "Z" ATM.

I'd just suggest that they change the webpage to "An online racing simulator, Caution, it may not function in your region" as being a more correct statement.

After all, there is a requirement in most countries to be "honest" in advertising your product, and LFS is currently in clear breach of NZ law.......

A NZ perspective.

Unfortunatly LFS on Aus servers is nearly dead, and this is really sad for someone who has been racing LFS for as long as I have been.

Sadly, owing to the update cycle that seems to work on a geological time scale, most racers in Australasia have moved to other racing sims.

The good news is that the Devs are promising that the 10 year tyre physics update is being worked on, so that's a positive..........

However, We are still awaiting any actual time period for this.

There is still some European racing but owing to distance from NZ and lag it's pointless trying to join these races as lag is extreme to say the least.

I really wish I could be more positive but due to the previous 10 years of work on tyre physics with no update time table, test dates, or in fact any material update to the sim, other than Rockingham (which the Devs require payment for), and some graphics updates to pre-existing tracks the game, which was once the leader of racing sim's, is now 10 years behind current gen sims.

That's not to say is it's a bad sim, in many ways it's still very good. However, the 10 years of work on the one update has led to the death of LFS online racing in Australasia.

I'm sure that all of us still on this forum are eagerly awaiting the long anticipated tyre physics release and are awaiting future updates to the game which will hopefully bring LFS back to life as "The online racing simulator" that the Dev's claim it is on the web page, because at the present time in Australasia, LFS online racing is dead.........

Please no, they will just start to hallucinate about weather being a thing, realistic car damage being a thing, engine and car wear being a thing, user developed tracks being a thing, and then they will end up believing that the VW Scirocco is still a current car worth developing.

That will only lead to yet another 10 year development cycle..........

Bottom line though, I would rather you work on more important parts of LFS.. like cars tracks, tire phys etc...

Please don't spend another 'x' period of time on this issue....
PLEASE.......

Prioritize on bringing the game back to life, please.

The forum, users, people who give you money as we believe in the potential of your game are shouting at you to sort this update out.

Please focus on tyre physics. It's not like we've been waiting a while.

Just make a list of improvements/updates.... i.e. TYRE PHYSICS !!!!!

Then work down the list on the TYRE PHYSICS 1.1 updates.

All been said before but this is your livelihood, food on the table etc. Many of us have been here for MANY years, want to see your dream work, but seriously, unless basic promises are fulfilled you will never make money and see this sim achieve the success it deserves.

Which christmas ???

Seem's pointless waiting for damage/weather/ etc updates given the current update pace.

The tyre physics update has been a ten year wait so far, and with no date for even a test patch.

Just settle for LFS as it is and any future update is simply a bonus.

OMG !!!!!

I ACTUALLY AGREE WITH CARGAME.

OK, capitals are no longer on sale and I promise never to agree with you again*.

The LFS tracks are like a pool table, real tracks have bumps, patch's, or, like Pukekohe, are like a b road.

That's why I'd like to see the ability to have tracks imported into LFS, and given the current speed of development of the new gen tyre physics this would allow LFS to generate more online use with the current tyre pyhsics, which are still considered to be pretty good with the current cars the sim has.

* Till the next time. Uhmm

Cracking happens in all games, and cracking is not the problem with LFS.
I don't think I need to repeat what the current (and for the last 10 years) issue that LFS has.......

Hopefully, the LONG awaited physics, user created input, etc update will result in the resurrection of online racing, which is currently dead in this part of the world.

Still, there are many other racing titles which do have current updates to keep us racing online while we continue to await the promised updates to LFS.

And, at least people do believe that LFS is a title worth cracking and racing with, that's something I suppose Zzzz

This is where to buy LFS.

1: lfs is not sold on steam.

2:
a: it's not against the rules as see (b)
b: lfs is not sold on steam
c: don't care, see (b)

Bluntly, you are wrong and are probably being scammed, but as you are a complete phuq wit and yet think you know more than we do, have a happy day.....
Thumbs up

PS: Don't bother complaining here that you have been scammed if you pay money on steam for LFS.

Seriously, just buy and race what gives you pleasure.....

Sims, real life, whatever, just have fun.

Don't bother waiting for any (Clearly excluding LFS) game to get its act together and actually produce an update that it's been working on for over 10 years.

This will happen on whatever timescale the developer(s) follows and in the meantime the rest of us have lives to get on with.

Have fun, and if any sim seems good, just buy it and enjoy what it offers.

And if LFS ever releases the updates promised 10 years ago, I'll buy S3. Till then............
